Objectives :

PRINCE2® (PRoject IN Controlled Environments) is a project management method designed to ensure that a project meet its objectives (within constraints of cost, time and quality) and that it delivers stated benefits.

The method is widely used by many of the UK’s leading private and public sector organizations. It is now also used worldwide in a large variety of businesses and organizations.

The PRINCE2 certification is an exam-based qualification composed of two levels :

Foundation and Practitioner.

This intensive PRINCE2 Foundation 2 day course is designed to provide you with a global knowledge and understanding of the PRINCE2 approach including the seven principles, seven themes and seven processes which are essential to run a project using PRINCE2.

At the end of this 2 day intensive course you would have the ability to understand the method and recognize its elements in your own work environment.

More specifically, by the end of this 2 day course you will be able to :

- understand how to plan and organize projects according to PRINCE2,

• ensure that quality is delivered in your project by using the PRINCE2 method,
• follow the processes to successfully complete a PRINCE2 project,
• pass the PRINCE2 Foundation examination,
• have a firm Foundation knowledge and experience
  allowing you to move on to the PRINCE2 Practitioner level.

To achieve this the course will use accelerated learning techniques which create a fun, interactive and interesting training environment. There will be a combination of slide presentations, individual and group exercises which are designed to prepare you well and maximize your success at the PRINCE2 Foundation examination.

The format of the exam is a closed book, 1 hour, with multiple choice questions.

An overview of the main PRINCE2 documents, including their use and purpose.

Exam preparation

(Pre-course materials and exercises will be given to delegates so that they can prepare themselves for the course and that they can take the maximum advantage of the knowledge of the trainer and his guidance during this intensive course.)

This PRINCE2 Foundation course can be followed by all staff involved in projects and who needs a better understanding of PRINCE2 that requires a formal qualification in this methodology. (1 hour multiple choice, closed book Foundation examination).

Prerequisites

Ideally you will have some project management experience either managing or working on a project, although this is not essential.

You will also need to complete the pre-course material provided prior to attending the course (8-10 hours).

Please also bare in mind that there will also be some evening work (2-4 hours) required.

Your trainer

The trainer is an approved PRINCE2 trainer (by the APMG) who has the practical experience of applying the method in any circumstance, any kind of organization.

The pre-course work package includes the “Essence of PRINCE2 -Project Management Method” written by Colin BENTLEY (Chief Examiner 1998-2008). In some circumstances the official OGC Manual – Managing a successful project using PRINCE2 Edition 2009 can be part of the course material.

You will be given the link to listen to our Pre-course PRINCE2 podcast.

The coursework you will receive will be your reference guide helping you during your daily work, and after the course will help you working with PRINCE2 in your projects.
